The German Academy of Rome is the property of the Federal Republic of Germany and an institution in the portfolio of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
Its mission is to offer highly talented artists the opportunity to further their artistic development through an extended study stay (ten months at Villa Massimo; three months at Casa Baldi), integrated into the cultural life of Rome and Italy.
Funding is intended for exceptionally qualified and talented artists in the fields of architecture (including landscape architecture), visual arts (drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, new media), literature and music (composition).
Artists who fulfil the requirements mentioned under point 1 can apply for a study visit in the next year via the central online application platform of the Kulturstiftung der Länder by 15 January at the latest.
