N A R A N Č A S T O   or   O R A N G E

concentrates on problem of color orange's rare use in contemporary fashion design because of the connection with anti-fashion garments.


It's a result of studying symbolical meanings of things and objects found in western civilization and their purpose of stigma and signalizing out-of-orderness. Unisex garments are proposed as a product of admonitory and unified individual.

O R A N G E is a final thesis collection by MARSOLINI for MA program of Fashion design at Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb. It consists of 7 outfits and a theoretical part written in terms of fashion theory.

 

The thesis was mentored by mr. art. Jasminka Končić and realized in September of 2017, with a help of SofijaSilvia, Matej Vitasović, Kasja Borić, Leda Kajfeš, Andrea Pliško and Dora Tominić.

Not Being Home

​

Escape from the city, away from the household noise to broader horizons, seemed finally promising, backed by eagerness and desire to create driven by the approval of people I deem important for my development. Every new opportunity outside the sunny Pula was supposed to be profound, sincere and healthy. Naturally, the city that had to take me had an entirely different disposition, the suburbs and the dismayed rainy days were accompanied by usual sobbing in the ground floor room. Whoever says they didn’t cry is a liar. Effort came first, my interest and the fact that I wanted to be everything and act, but it was all delivered in vain, without an answer. All the inclinations become unimportant when ‘yes, it really works that way’ and ‘but I think this is regressive’, when there is an uninterested blockage. That’s why we went out, we put our hearts and our feet out to the max, everything had to have a purpose of the spirit of the moment, for a clear conscience. Due to a lack of practice, I moved my Zagreb studies to my room, which began as an intense quest and ended as the unchanged essence of my existence. I need the smell of home.

Every new room has my old room.

Tissue prints signal the abstract world outside. What I go out with comes back changed, diminished; pieces of it are left on a bottle, on a sink, on someone else, and the rest comes back on a surface and becomes a medium, a record, a print.

#(hashtag) of the city’s name is primarily girls in front of famous 
places in those cities. Inspirational and positively oriented text, if you are 
required to do so by your lifestyle - an ornament of waste, a 
forgiveness for this digital banality. Adding a concept to something that 
lacks it is the art of this period. I promise to indirectly bind myself with the 
nostalgic, a postcard I want to send to a friend in front of an audience. Not a 
photograph of the Arena, but a picture of me in my compromised comfort. 
This destination is disappointing, there aren’t many good backgrounds.

 towel Princess owes its form to clothing, new media and poetry. Her 
physical presence consists of 4 refined towels, 6 refined peeling mitts, 
and 2 x 4 postcards. Towels have been transformed into garments, 
redesigned into TAMARA, ULIKA and MARINA dresses and the 
GIANNA set. They are named after apartment buildings and villas, the 
scenography for this story. The material is intervened by eliminating 
parts of the weave and embroidering with beads and trinkets made of 
plastic, wood, glass, metal and shells. The work is dedicated to every 
surplus created after the season, after the trip, after dinner, after the 
festival, after the exhibition, after the friendship. I accept all that cache.

towel Princess

 In an unfinished house in the outskirts of Pula I left endlessly numerous projections during the whole period of our mutual existence.

  In every shape, only two parcels away from the one I grew up at, childhood looks at common as permanent. Fear is danger.

  All of those to whom Disco Pavle ever gave a shelter in vulnerabilities of various natures went through it like people through anywhere.

  While the unstable hologram of Mia Mars gets lost in the cyberspace, here it is striven to physically form it as an exhibition in order to communicate with the unknown. Participants destroy, tear, steal and return the photos to my garden.

  We don’t know each other, how many things in common do we even have apart the ruins? Am I where I grew up at? Who are those living so close? After what do they come here? Will they miss that unfinished ruin?
